Brian Clegg

Brian Clegg

Brian read Natural Sciences (specializing in experimental physics) at Cambridge University. After graduating, he spent a year at Lancaster University where he gained a second MA in Operational Research. Brian worked a number of years at British Airways before leaving to help companies with creativity, and increasingly to write popular science. His books include A Brief History of Infinity, Inflight Science, How to Build a Time Machine, The Quantum Age and How Many Moons Does the Earth Have.

Brian has lectured at the Royal Institution in London, Science Museum and British Library with appearances at Cheltenham and Edinburgh Festivals of Science. He has contributed to radio and TV, and is a popular speaker at schools. Most recently he appeared with the BBC's business editor, Robert Peston, teaching him quantum theory, took part in a feature on time travel to accompany the movie Looper and took part in the University Challenge Christmas Special. With 30 popular science books published, Brian has spoken at large scale venues such as the Royal Institution, British Library and Science Museum, at science and literary festivals and at many schools and colleges. For primary schools (KS2) he offers a talks on science/being a scientist and matter, while his range for secondary schools and adults runs from infinity and time travel to quantum physics and relativity. He also offers a non-fiction writing workshop. See
