I am a historian interested in the intersection of science, society, policy, and the environment. I am a post-doctoral research fellow working on an interdisciplinary project, "Science and Religion: Exploring the Spectrum," (more info: http://sciencereligionspectrum.org/). I have a wide range of interests including the history of the public communication of science, science on TV, evolution, floodplain management, meteorology & climatology, and environmental regulation.
I have extensive experience speaking to a diverse range of audiences, from school children in assemblies through to a delegates from the Chinese Meteorological Administration. I have performed stand-up comedy about my research at the Bright Club comedy night, and since 2013 have been a co-organiser of the regular Bright Club Manchester comedy night (http://brightclubmcr.org.uk/)
