Air pollution is responsible for the deaths of thousands in the UK each year and millions world-wide, yet it often feels like we are still scratching the surface of getting it under control. In this lecture, Mark Richards will examine the role that fundamental physics has played in characterising, monitoring, and detecting air pollution. He will then explore some of the challenges we still face and allude to more recent innovations that could provide the key to cleaner safer air quality for all.
