Black holes have gravitational fields so intense that nothing, not even light, can escape their event horizons, rendering them “invisible”. The very idea of imaging a black hole was long thought to be the realm of science fiction. However, in April 2019 the Event Horizon Telescope, together with Ziri Younsi, stunned the world with the first ever picture of a black hole. Ziri will explain these images and how they advance our understanding of the origins of space, time, and the Universe itself.
