An Astronaut in Structure Space: Re-designing Nucleic Acids Using Synthetic Organic Chemistry

The talk by Prof. Nick Lane of UCL, How Energy Flow Shapes the Evolution of Life, has been cancelled due to unavoidable clash with professional duties. Instead Dr Kevin Devine will be speaking on synthetic analogues of DNA and RNA, life's most important nucleic acids, and will examine their physical and chemical properties, in particular their abilities to serve as conveyors of genetic information. And if life exists elsewhere in the universe, will it also use DNA?
