Yorkshire Philosophical Soc

Yorkshire Philosophical Soc

The Yorkshire Philosophical Society was formed in 1822 by individuals keen to pursue the study of natural sciences. The Society founded the Yorkshire Museum and Gardens in York and, although these were passed into the care of the City of York in 1960, it still continues to take an interest in them, as well as pursuing its objective of supporting scientific research and education through grants and awards as well as an annual public lecture programme and monthly Café Scienifique sessions.
