Jellyfish genes, lasers and large microscopes to explore membrane systems in plants

Fluorescent proteins cloned from jellyfish can be used to label membrane bounded organelles in cells. We use this system combined with various forms of laser microscopy to investigate the structure and function of the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus in plant cells at high resolution.
